The study, based on extensive field work, describes the first phase of Ereto-Ngorongoro Pastoralist Project, identifying key lessons that could be used (for Ereto 2) when engaging in policy dialogue. By working with communities to identify the impact (good as well as bad) of project achievements, key lessons on how to support pastoralist livelihoods and reduce poverty are identified. The report goes on to present the policy framework in the context of pastoralism and pastoralist livelihoods in Tanzania. From here, entry points for using the lessons from Ereto 1 to support pastoralist livelihoods are identified and strategies presented.
